Nessa Grasing is
a songwriter and guitarist based in Seattle, Washington. She got her start at SUNY Purchase opening for acts such as Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, and Jeffrey Lewis, before making her way out west. In Seattle she joined local indie band Scarves, as a lead guitarist and backup vocalist. Along with band leader Niko Stathakopoulos, she co-wrote Dinner Dates for the End of Days, Delicate Creatures, and their upcoming album, currently being produced by Chris Walla.
Music
Her most recent release, Forest Fires/The Desert and Your Demons, is a solo effort composed between bouts of touring with Scarves and healing from broken bones. Drawing on biblical stories and the beauty and decay of the West, Nessa traces the line between indie and country.
Nessa is a visual artist, providing illustration and art direction for Scarves, as well as her solo work. She was trained in drawing and painting at LaGuardia High School in New York (The “Fame” School).
